I dont think gamers being negative is the problem, its the devs themselves churning out unpolished [sh*t] that makes gamers frustrated at not getting value for money. Paying full retail for a game that wont load, crashes or has game breaking bugs is not going to make people happy, I dont think the chap interviewed appreciates that.
Also, with regards to social media, if devs just used their own official forums to communicate instead of hiding behing twitter/facebook the world would be a better place.
What innovation has C O D (to name just one FPS title) brought to gamers in the last 2 releases? New perks, new weapon skins, a strawberry jam damage screen .....wow, really impressive innovation *rolls eyes*
I agree with most of the comments. Devs are rushing out games too quick IMO to ensure they have had plenty of Q&A time before launching with Day Zero patches....even Bad Company 2 (which i play the most these days) has its faults, and if BC3 does a 'modern warfare' and just gives us new skins/maps for full retail then I wont be buying that.

The best defence against software piracy is producing a game worth buying.

In an ideal world all devs would be like VALVE, only quality releases.
as for BF3 I doubt it will be just a BC2 2.0, but details will have to convince us...
leaked teaser trailer shows a Fall 2011 release.

ABattlefield 3 will feature Singleplayer-Missions and allows up to 64 players online. But only on PC. You'll play in New York, Paris, Teheran and more cities.

Good games take time to make, with the complexity of the tech features available (DX 10/11, engine physics etc) to devs today, you cannot make a quality innovative product within 12 months without having a massive dev team ...which in turn can bring its own problems (communication between devs, bug tracking, etc).
The game industry is a hungry beast, hungry for MONEY hence they take franchises that sold well initially and try to knock out a sequel every year (C O D, guitar hero, etc). C O D is probably one of the few titles that still sells well year on year, guitar hero on the other hand see its sales figures drop with every release as gamers realise there is nothing really new/innovative in the new title(s).
In my games collection I have games that I think are value for money and some that I regret buying, the ones that I think are value for money took longer to make than the titles that I regretted buying.
For example, GTA IV took 4 years to make and IMO is a great game I've never had a problem with, then there is Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising which as you well know, and is well documented on this forum....is a steaming pile of [sh*t] that took 2 years to make, and to be honest it was a poor effort for 2 years of work on a game engine that already existed (and wasnt suited to a FPS title!).
Devs are re-using engines as it saves money (cheaper to buy a game engine licence than make one from scratch), if they want to add a new feature they tend to bodge it in...only to realise later on that this will lead to a problem in stability or patch support.
Devs only have themselves to blame for the negativity towards their products and the way in which they interact with their customers (four2zero tweets for example).

pmsl....so any1 that doesnt like a game is a negative gamer
so anybody with no mind or opinion is a positive gamer
everybody knows that if i buy and like a game...then its very rare not to see me playing it hence the 500+ hrs ive used on bfbc2 (sad but true) same as cod4 and god knows how many hours on the beloved FC i did but i always had the "u dont have a women" award on SL. FC2 i played about 1 hr online and sp 21%....i can see that i have around 2ohrs on BO....
i personally think both the last games are a pile of repetative shite....but thats just my negative opinion
