I was going to get it but realised it was a Codemasters game based on the EGO Engine ....the very same developer and game engine of Operation Flashpoint Dragon Failing.

I therefore decided to hold off buying it until I read reviews/bugs from the community members who have purchased it ....and from what I've read Im glad I didnt buy it on impulse.

I may reconsider once the patch is out assuming it addresses the issues presented by the community on their own forums.

Im also disappointed to read that its more of an arcady consolised racer than a true simulation (something a lot of people have realised they didnt mention during all the pre-release PR). I prefer simulations when it comes to racing games, GTR2 is the best buy I've ever made in that regard.

Who knows mate, maybe in the future when it can justify its cost, then we can have a MP race (and no doubt take each other out on the first corner lol)

:)

people complained about it not been a sim till they relised you can turn all the assists off in options. its a great game in MP most problems are in SP. its well worth a laugh. i recommend it for a 2nd game to play when you need something different. very exciting to play in MP but you have to be a F1 fan

Turning the driving aids off does help to improve realism by making it harder to control the car, however there is a bug that prevents some aids being switched off despite them indicating so.

For example, the ABS aid, if you set this OFF in the garage it will set itselt back to ON once you enter the track even though it will still indicate OFF in the options, you have to turn it ON whilst on the track, drive a little and then turn it OFF for it to really be OFF - at which point some heavy braking can lock the wheels up. :)

The first patch news is out today, they're fixing the corrupt saves, the PIT delay issue, the AI track way points and lap times (the AI isnt that intelligent, it just follows a line of pre-specified way points for each track).

Not sure if they're addressing the tyre compound pitting bug whereby if you indicate to your team that you're going to pit and want xxx compound tyre put on, when you do pit they stick the default compound tyre on that you started with and not the one you specified.

But it does look good, even though the current PC version is a direct console port and is therefore limited to DX9 for the moment (DX11 support will be patched in at a later date).

you know more about it than me, i dont see these issues in MP? anyway i need the assists im crap at it i only turn off the braking assists at the moment, unless i join a match that wont let you use them, its a bloody difficult game but addicted. not enjoyed myself this much for ages. i do hope someone buys it soon. the windows live gaming is a nice touch to be able to keep a friends list although if you intend to get your name make an account asap.

I played fifa 11 and it is truly fifa 10 port which they released on xbox last year, non the less it's next gen.
no more keyboard, got a gamecontroller specially for this (and for dead rising 2, darksider, lara croft... :) )
damn controller pushes me back from world class to playing semi-pro :( .
only downside with fifa atm is you can't save/load without crashing and losing all your settings. (not sure if it's a leech thing or retail too)

as for F1 2010, from what I know the game only has minor bugs, but the F1 sport just bores me(8 lap minimum and too realistic.. 2 penalties and you're out). I'd rather play the new Need for Speed game coming out.

I've read quite a bit about it Greg on both the official forums (bit of a rage on there) and other racing sim sites, hence I know the good bits and the bad bits. For me there are some bad bits that need patching before I part with cash. :)

I've heard the MP can get messy unless you're on a server with other like minded (mature) people who want to race properly.

Otherwise you run the risk of joining a server where you'll be taken out on a corner by some numpty who is either trying to grief people or simply doesnt have a [f*cking] clue how to drive and doesnt appreciate how braking distances matter when there are some physics in the game.

Apparently AI cars never get flagged for infractions, only you, so if an AI wipes you out in a crash they get away without punishment. If you're only playing MP though this wont apply for obvious reasons :)
