Yes, Sabre was in the clan back in the days when Farcry was our sole game....its a small world
The history of the clan as far as I remember it was along these lines.....
The history of the clan as far as I remember it was along these lines.....
Source: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://22ndsas.comFlashback wrote: The clan was originally formed by JohnMac the very first week Farcry was released in the UK, needless to say he was a big SAS fan, but not at all scottish or manly sounding on TS, a decent bloke though non the less.
Originally the clan website was http://www.22ndsas.com. The clan had around 8 members by the time I was asked to join, some names I remember upon joining are: JohnMac, Games, Nova, Sabre, Plank, TheFink (who talked me into joining) and Puff. The clan played Farcry in clanbase.
Several months later JohnMac had to leave the clan due to a heavy workload but let us keep the website (he was the owner of the domain and web hosting plan). During his absence English (Jez) and Turnip joined our clan, followed by the late Si_ (Breakz) on 26th Nov 2004 and GobyFly on 4th Jan 2005.
On 15th Jan 2005 JohnMac came back, followed 2 days later by our new member - Godswork/Godz (This was the 1st time he joined!!!!!).
Farcry patch v1.31 was then released.
On 17th March 2005 Jasper joined the clan as our new sniper, unfortunately 3 days later on the 20th March 2005 Turnip (a major pwner!) left our clan to play at a higher level - he joined the Ghost clan who where top of the clanbase ladder.
On the 1st April 2005 several members left the clan: JohnMac, Nova, Godswork. They formed the CRW clan (counter revolutionary warfare clan). The split seemed to be down a difference of opinion in the structure/running of/direction of the clan. At the time Sabre stuck with the 22ndSAS clan, however later left to join the CRW clan.
There was some bitterness between certain members over the split, all I can say is that most of the trouble was caused by Nova talking [sh*t] and making up rumours....chewing on JohnMacs ear which pissed him off causing him to give us 2 weeks notice that he would be taking the website off us (and who could blame him from what Nova was telling him). It turns out Nova still had root access to JohnMacs web hosting plan and was 'hacking' into our forum database to see what we doing...and Im sure he deleted some stuff too - the prick!
This left us (or rather me) with a short period of time to sort out a new domain (http://www.22ndsas.info) and web hosting plan. At this point in time, I guess English would be considered the main man in charge of the clan - even though it wasnt structured like that - he was just a natural leader and took over, he was in charge of the clan funds....until BF2 came along and he joined the Evil Fruits gang...whereby Porky took over his role of shaking the tin.
Zux, Porky and Hervig joined the clan on 22nd April 2005.
There are many members who have joined and left during this time, such as Kampfschwein (german for "war pig") and her hubby (cant remember his name....was it Zoltan?...Wotan) and Duron (all 3 of them Germans), plus many more awesome characters. I cant remember when Hanz joined, but I think he was about when Turnip was here???

I think (maybe Godz can clear this up) that JohnMac wasnt happy not being in charge after he came back, I think there where a couple of members he dissaproved of so left to form CRW. He also had Nova telling him we calling him all sorts on the private forums (from his 'hacking') which is not the way I remember it.
Just LOL'd at this snippet from the original 22ndSAS website:
Porky would never get in with that "dont do" criteria

Source: http://waybackmachine.org/web/200408061 ... as.com:80/What the 22ndSAS clan members do
-- Have a ratio of 20:10 kills on a large public FFA game. --
-- Be able to hit and kill a moving target with a handgun. --
-- Use the terrain to their advantage. --
-- Have a fast Internet connection. --
-- Know the maps inside out. --
What 22ndSAS Clan members don’t do

-- Swear at other players or clan members. --

Hi, Yeah this is all very familiar to me.
1st of all kampfs Husband was called Wotan. Nice to see nice names like Duron he was a real nice fellow. I remember Sabre very well.
CRW well............ in short John and Nova had a "better" idea to form a new clan because nova was telling john loads of [sh*t] and was unhappy with some new members joining. unfortuently they pm'd me and convinced me to come with them with a few unfair nudges along the way (you know what i mean) i was also unhappy at the time because my mate turnip decided to leave. and that formed CRW unfortuently in CRW nova started the same [sh*t] again and when john heard everything he done in the past few months where all just bullshit he decided to call it a day along with personel issues, I still do have minor contact with the founder john mac and i still count him as one of the nicest guys i have ever met. He never meant any harm to 22ndsas and if it was not for him the clan would not exist today so we have him to thank for that (fook knows why he let ice in the clan though)
Thw CRW clan was a mistake and i still regret leaving because i had just recruited porky to the clan after many months of stalking him : ) ( i think i was in charge of recruitment at the time)
The original 22nd sas was a very difficult clan to get into at first they never had anymore than 12 members in the clan because they only had a 12 man server, but when eventually we got a 16 man server i got in, it used to take weeks of trials and tests to get in i still remember a test of running around chasing john mac and Chong in a FFA map trying to hit them with a pistol : )
A great clan overall and in fact more than a clan but a group of friends just a shame some are not still around these days.

I think the fact I used to take flags in assault on my own in the early days of Farcry had something to do with my selection ;) .....shame my pwner skills have left me as I've got older
How I came to join the clan was quite amusing...at least to me anyway. Farcry was my first online game, I looked through the server list and saw [22ndSAS] and I thought "what a bunch of wannabe pussies, I'll pop on and see whats what", I then pwned them (and everyone else) and took many a flag on my own as a grunt with the saw (* has nostalgic moment, wipes tear from eye *) ...but more importantly enjoyed myself and the humour typed in the ingame chat....so I kept coming back and was asked to go on trial (via [22ndSAS]TheFink) and got in
As the clan grew we got better and better players ...making me look crapper lol....until Porky Zux and Hervig joined making me look half decent again
