Hi Lads,
After many hours of pondering I've decided to build a new rig now and not to wait for next gen hardware (money prolly gone in 2012). This is what I'm thinking about buying:
CPU: INTEL CORE I7 2600K 3.40GHZ 8MB S-1155 (unlocked)
MoBo: ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME-Z Z68 S-1155 E-ATX
RAM: CORSAIR 16GB DDR3 VENGEANCE PC3-12800 1600MHZ CL9 (4X4GB) BLUE
SSD: CORSAIR FORCE GT SERIES 3 2.5" 120GB SSD MLC (doing PS and 3D besides gaming)
Case:CORSAIR OBSIDIAN 800D EATX BLACK
PSU: CORSAIR AX 1200W PROFESSIONAL
CPU Cooler: CORSAIR H100 HYDRO (overclock here)
... and then there's big decision on wether to buy a "budget" (6970) card and then wait until the 7xxx ATI series / nVidia Kepler - or - go all in and buy 2 x 580 / 6970 or a 6990 / 590.
Was thinking about going for a 3 x display setup but now I'm leaning towards buying a single 24-30" display.
What do you think? Any comments will be much appreciated seeing that I have a hard time deciding which hand I should use to scratch my ass with...cheers!
All in on a new build...

Yeah (call me a looney) but now I'm leaning towards 2 x 6990
My main concern is heat/noise and I really do not have the skills nor the patience to go liquid... always gaming with my headset on so for me noise is not that big a deal. As far as heat goes I'm hoping that fans on top of the obsidan 800 chasis will sufice.
But to answer your question I've decided on the BENQ XL2410T. i know it's a TN panel but most IPS panels have too much input lag + they are still quite expensive.

I've been looking at that display as well (120Hz). Just curious if you really notice the double refreshed rate ingame.
atm I'm looking into the Dell u2412M IPS display. so far people are positive about it considering the price/quality, no real input lag but it does have a bit of ghosting in faster paced games (fps/racing) though bf series aren't that intense as cod.

My Dell 2209WA is an IPS panel, it has a DVI input and a 6ms response time, I've never ever noticed ghosting once in any of the games I play.....I'll be blunt in a genuine attempt to help you Plow...
TN PANELS ARE [f*cking] SHITE !!!
There...hope the understood what I was getting at

The best defence against software piracy is producing a game worth buying.

What, Ice... you don't like IPS panels... why?
Reading on the interwebz it seems there still a little too much input lag on the Dell 2209WA. Though the Dell u2412M seems like a decent gamer screen. Maybe I'll have to review my position on the displays (i'm slowly going crazy with decisions...)
PS. Haven't seen a game running 120Hz on a TN panel but I imagine it would be a big step up from 60Hz (thinking of the days where flatscreens TV's made the transistion)
