Will my E6600 (dualcore) @ stock settings be a big bottleneck if I upgrade my 8800 GTS 312mb to a GTX 460 1gb or amd 68/69 series?

Im just trying to look ahead, with all the dx11/high req. games coming out in 2011.

If I was you Hanz, I would go for at least a quad core, since that dual core will be a bottle neck for that card you want.
I wanted the new 5870 1gb, but my phenom will bottleneck it too, unless I upgrade to a phenom II or an i7

It will be the bottle neck at stock setting 2.4ghz. Seem to remember you got the same setup I did many moons ago. Clock it to 3ghz, it will do that no problems and see if the fps increases. If it does have a significant increase in fps then it will be an expensive upgrade, if there is no gr8 increase in fps then just buy the card

also remember we still wait for fugging game to actually use all cores n gpu at the same time not some bollox lazy coding (see call of duty [Gay Ops] as one of the fixes is turning off a core)

just as I thought even though its still a decent system, it is starting to have trouble with the latest games and multitasking (FIFA 11 + steam/sabnzb + music). and a new gfx card won't help that much...

I tried to overclock once with help of xdave and advised settings on forums but I couldn't get it to work. (wouldn't start windows/black screen if i recall).

probably best to wait until the big titles (which are worth playing) get released and then decide what I want to spend.

option1: gfx card
option2: gfx card + Q8/9 series cpu
option3: new system for the next 4/5 years
option4: buy a console
