I sent a pm to kimi last week
Hey kimi, I know your probably rly busy with the release at hand but I can't stop myself writing this :s

From the people I know who got FC2 early, I have heard horrible things about the multiplayer, and not just its interface but the game play/weapon balances and general feel being the mane gripe which people are having with it, and they are probably the worst things that you would want to have trouble with in a game!

I don't want to criticize overly because I know the games single player will be epic, but my concern is that more and more people (including myself) are now going out there to purchase games solely for their multiplayer side rather than their single player side. Times are changing and it seems like ubisoft is being left behind.

I can't help but get the feeling that you guys are leaving multiplayer as a last minute addon, a bonus to the single player, and I think that this is a major mistake.

Since FC1 I moved onto greener pastures, I found the Call of Duty franchise made by Activision, and for me, they are the developer to compare everyone else to and this is the series to watch out for. The CoD series has sold countless units and recieved nothing but praise from both sides of the community (SP + MP) because they have a fantastic SP (which I don't usually play, but for the CoD series its just that good..) and an amazingly well worked MP that caters for everyones needs.

One thing that I KNOW about Activision/Treyarch/Infinity Ward is that they take the time to find out what people want, from the people who know, which is why their MP is so impressive. You have all the fun stuff for the casual gamer, and all the competitive stuff for the pro/competitive gamers on top of really nice graphics that arent too demanding and a great engine.

This is where I think ubisoft is failing, because I can't really think of a ubisoft product that has succeeded in its multiplayer, even even the rainbow 6 series doesnt offer near as much as the CoD series, though it is a step up it doesnt really hit the nail on the head.

Now I know this PM isnt really going to change the way you guys make games, and I'd be supprised if it went further than your PC screen :P but I just need to get this off my chest, because Ubisoft was the first Producer/Developer that I came into contact with and it is still my favorite.

You guys really need to find out what people want before you develop multiplayer. You need to see what else is on the market and see what is good and bad about those and you NEED to give people news about the multiplayer before the games actually released.

From the first few videos that were released about FC2 I already had the feeling that the game wasnt going to do well because it seemed like you were foccusing so much on the single player and graphics that the multiplayer side would be forgotten and neglected, and from the people I know who have the game it seems like my suspiscions were right. Right now as I'm typing a die hard farcry fan has said this :

[13:41] |wte| Ratata: OMFG this game is for consols only **** >

And to be honest I'm hearing things along the same lines from everyone I speak to about the game. Even from GodZ who was so excited about the game he made his own community website, and even got the game off ubisoft early to try before release, and now wishes he haddnt bothered at all about it.

I dont want this to sound like im just completley critisizing the game, because I'm not. The single player sounds epic and the graphics are stunning, but what I want you guys to realise is that single player games (ESPECIALLY first person shooters) just dont cut it on their own any more. They need to have a kick ass multi player if you want them to be successful!
Got a reply yesterday
Hey Jason,

I do understand your frustration with the MP side of things. Right now all I can say is that all the feedback is being looked into, and many of the MP issues are being looked at in terms of gameplay and connectivity issues. While realistically I don't think 100% of the issues will be dealt with, I am hopeful that we'll try to get some fixes out that the community wants/needs.

I know at this time it's all empty words, but we are actively working behind the scenes among all of us to try and get some things out so don't lose all the faith!

she kinda missed the point, but at least they are trying to sort it

persistent ranking on player servers would have helped too, since they aren't fixing the "can't join a ranked game in progress" just telling you it's started and preventing crashing if you try to join :uwhat:
