Rightho Laaaaaaaads. Im saving up for a new rig and lookin to spend about a grand and this is what i have come up with and u gays seem to kno alot about pcs n stuff so anything u can get me to change or suggest cheaper stuff tehn all is welcome

I would aim for a mobo that supports PCIe 2.0 and opt for one or more graphics card that support the PCIe 2.0 standard - and DX10.1 (future proofing).

I've only heard bad things about Vista, but if you want to experience DX10 stuff you'll need it - otherwise I'd go for XP Pro - Microsoft have extended its 'lifetime' by another 2 years - which should give them time to fix Vista (XP only makes use of 3gb ram max).

I've never heard of that PSU make, but can recommend OCZ.

Not having a CPU then?
Make sure the case has LOTS of cooling if your gonna SLi 8800GT's
Personally for that sort of money I'd opt fof an X38 chipset and a single 1024mb ATI HD3870 X2 gfx
and spend the extra on better RAM and CPU

I've translated "W9300" into the Queens English, the outcome is Intel Q9300

The ATI Radeon HD 3870 (PCIe 2.0) outperforms the ATI Radeon 2900XT (that I have!) and its half the price I paid for my 2900XT

...so Im going to get one (though I'll also need an X38/X48 chipset to support it)

Love this card. Got it before OCUK was stocking them and had it running for a while now. It's not struggled with anything I've cared to throw at it (Running on a Phenom 9500 Black, 8gb ram system), Churning out full 1080P with every setting to max on any games I've run so far.
Running cool and alot less noisey than I expected.

Be warned, it's massive. Only JUST fits in my NZXT Lexa blackline case.
