Have you unlocked the extra shaders etc on your 6950 yet to make it a 6970? Worked well on mine and all you need is the free radeon bios editor program (RBE)

Its not running in DUAL CHANNEL mate, so you're not using it to its max potential.
Your RAM slots on the mobo are colour coded, refer to your manual to see which slots you should stick your RAM in for it to run in DUAL CHANNEL mode, it will either be BLACK slots or RED slots.....not a BLACK and RED slot!
EDIT
As Im a nice guy I went and downloaded the mobo manual and had a look at the belly of the beast, I have discovered on pages 2-14 and 2-15 that you should place your DDR3 RAM in the
RED slots (Slots A1 and B1).
Manual: 2-15 wrote:
We recommend that you install the memory modules from the red slots for better overclocking capability
