all i can say is after using the mx1000 wirless jobbie was awsome mainy cos it had the programable buttons for laying down and wanging grenades have stuck with these eversince..the wirless is now used as the bed remote ..(used in farcry days and still going strong so qaulity build on its part)used now and again in rpgs etc
like sky i switch to a cheapeo(Trust)£8.00 as i cant see the diffrence i will say this ones laser and switches between 800 and 1600 dpi the 1600 being faster (just means i dont have to use mouse pointer acceleration and can do it on the fly )bought for the same reason as the mx has the extra buttons at thumb level for the 2 main fps jobs, laying down and chucking gonads... one point tho is the expensive one is larger so fits the hand better ergonomicly(the curve u have knuckle underside either that or i just have shovels)lets call it the camel arch lol...one thing i will say is the rubber [sh*t] seems stuck on with ant spit on the cheaper model

same goes for keyboard i picked up nice cheap one after the lights in the expensive one took a distaste to tea spilt in it ,this one likes tea (waterproof)and has large orange/red buttons for wasd and arrows

lol £7.00 wilko .gaiming keyboard even has a retro feel to it and £30.00 cheaper than the supposed super keyboard
the reason for the xmas wish mouse i posted is so i can get a glass table cos the fag burns n coffe stains on this one are becoming artsy to the extreme

I only need 3 buttons (a left, a clickable scroll wheel, and a right), I dont need a mouse that looks like a cross between a phone with 38 keys on it and a device batman would love to have on his utility belt!

I already have an ALLSOP mouse mat (metal type with pattern), low profile, good size, very nice. Im currently using a Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 1000.

My step son has the above mentioned Razer and you should stay well clear!. The left mouse button is almost broken and it's only been a year. Very cheap build quality and too light IMO.

The one thing that I have noticed though is that the mouse surface does become very important, and it took me ages to find something that I really liked.

So what are you using these days Mr. Plum? I'm trying to find a new mat...

We have got through 3 razors in 2 years, I'm now on the R.A.T series now. They are not as comfortable and the thumb buttons are too close to the heel of your thumb which is a pain in the arse

I have an old "art" Mouse Pad made of rubber with a special surface that is encased in a heavy metal frame so that it never ever moves. It's made by Allsops, and Amazon are selling the latest version for £8.99.

Not a death on 2 legs player, but using G5 logitech mouse plus G15 keyboard.

THats what I use too plus an Icemat, have the kb and the mat since 2005

I had a Everglide Mousepad for some time, but then threw it away because it didn't stop stinking even half a year after I bought it. They must have put every chemical they could find into this surface
Now I just use a standard desk set. It takes a few days to get used to it but then it's no difference anymore.
Don't know much about gaming mice, but regarding a mousepad I would say 'hype'

just buy a sheet of matt black vinyl
