Godz, I must have a doppleganger in St.Helens as it sure as hell wasnt me, I wont buy the game, as doing so is like funding terrorism....where the victim is PC gaming as we know it.

Several times I've read "The future of PC Gaming is changing...", it will only change if we as a community let it.

If we accept and pay for games that are sub-par, limited in features and longevity, where the only 'new blood' injected into it is in the form of paid-for-DLC, with the threat of monthly subscriptions to play online through an inferior networking system where hackers can run wild due to lack of facility for community administration....then and only then will the future of PC gaming change....for the worse!

Other developers/publishers will watch the MW2 issue pan out to see if they too can get away with charging more for less in return, if we all lie down and let them walk all over us we have no reason to complain...we will become the gaming equivalent of french surrender monkeys! (apologies to any french members here - we'll make you honourary englishmen!)

Developers/Publishers are businesses, obviously they need to make money and save money where they can, more so if they have shareholders as it is an added responsibility. However, given the fact that MW2 is based on the same engine as MW1, they had access to all the great features of MW1 (SADS, Lean, etc) so why did they spend time/money removing so much? As the saying goes, if it isnt broken dont fix it!

I think we can all agree that the motivation behind the consolised end product for the PC platform is money (with some stupidity thrown in). They restricted the game so they can charge for DLC, etc. They can also control the shelf-life of the product, giving them the power to toss out sequels on an annual basis and ceasing support for previous titles, dont be suprised if one day you fire up MW2 MP and find IWNET wont connect you, instead providing a link to their latest sequel of the game.

This is exactly why I wont buy the game, I wont support a company who wants to do business like this. Lets look at the 'bigger picture', lets go beyond the game developers/publishers, lets look at hardware manufacturers and how accepting console ports would affect them (in theory).

If we PC users accept and buy XBOX 360 ports, then we wont need the latest hardware to play games. The games wont push hardware technology enough to justify the expense of purchasing it. Who needs to buy the latest and greatest graphics card if computer games have capped FPS (as MW2 does)? Why buy a DX11 card if no games will make use of it (MW2 doesnt use DX10 or DX11!)?

This is something console players often overlook when they comment on the negative response towards MW2 from the PC community. If PC gamers dont need new hardware every couple of years, where is the motivation for hardware manufacturers to invest time/money into developing new technology? Where will the hardware for the next-gen-consoles come from if the PC platform isnt pushing new technology?

I dont believe hardware manufacturers will sit back and let this happen. I wouldnt be surpised to see some of them invest in future PC titles so their hardware is sought after. For me, Inifinity Ward have been both lazy and greedy with MW2. This game could have worked well with both SADS/Server-Browser (for competitive gamers) and a MatchMaking 'quick connect' service (for 'casual' gamers if such a thing exists on the PC). If the game wasnt balanced for lean or more than 9v9 players, then the level designer(s) screwed up!

I believe the motivation behind the MW2 piracy and hacks is to piss of IW for pissing of the PC community. I'd love to know how many copies of the game would have been sold if MW2 had the same MP features as MW1 (MW2 sold 53,400 copies on PC in first week, 3% of total sales!), would anyone here have a dodgy copy if that was the case? I doubt it....unless they're a real skin flint lol. The IW forums would be a completely different place to what they are now, gaming sites would be full of praise no doubt............but no, IW put money before their customers so they only have themselves to blame for the current fiasco that is MW2.

:yeahthat:

What comes to me and my copy of the game, this is my first dodgy one in my pc gaming history, but if this [sh*t] will continue, i promise, it wont be the last one. And yes, with dedicated servers and all other stuff that Ice mentioned before, i would have bought the legimate copy and i am still prepared to buy it , IF IW/Activision will take their head out of their asses and give us the product what we were waiting for.

why even have a copied version if you feel so bad about it, i for one will never play pirate version of a game no matter how pissed off i am. probebly why the developers are turning their back on us in the first place.

I guaranty you Simon, that non of the developers or executive decisionmakers in the gamming industry read this or any other clan forum. They might have raised their eyes of the saleschart for a second when they heard 217.841 signed the partition. Thats all. They get their x-mas bonus and the wife is happy.

If you want to fight a guerilla war dont bomb your own village.

I think we can all see where future gamming is heading and nothing will ever be the same as it were.
They dont care about 30+ old gamers with extreme interest in FPS and clan communities, they want the new generation 15+ who had everything served to them on a platter since they were born and has an allowancebudget we couldnt even dream of back then .

We are dinosaurs and soon to be instinct. But while we are slowly perising lets have fun doing it. MW2 is an awesome game and has much more potential that i could have imaginged when I (very reluctantly) bought it.

WTE is having a blast playing it and we hope the rest of you guys will join us (Its easy through Steam ;-)... just till the next good game comes out.

There are several members here who purchased it, so im sure they'll be in touch with you handsome devils :)

I think I'll stick with COD4, and maybe join former F&B Clivey on Farcry 1.

Yeah, i'm going to uninstall the game, fook me, it took 30+ hours to download it and it was over under 5 hours. Well, maybe the Bad Company 2 is the game what we are waiting for, but until that, i'm going to also stick on COD4 and Far Cry.
