PMSL
Appealing to the lowest common denominator (consoles) to generate revenue has been killing games for a long time. Gone are the days you would actually have to use your brain to get past obstacles, these days you are assisted in so many ways because 1) Console controls need to be easy to use and 2) The Console generation generally consists of whiny little children who will give up on any game if they feel they are not winning. To me, it is akin to giving every child a trophy no matter what place they come. It is counter productive and teaches them nothing, you receive no sense of achievement.

whats all the console kiddies posting in a PC post anyways??

More disturbing news...

OF2:DR uses the EGO engine, the same game engine as CodeMasters DIRT and GRID titles.

The EGO engine is built around P2P, therefore there will be no dedicated server package meaning the MP like FC2 will die within a couple months, maybe weeks!

Confirmation that the EGO engine wont run as a dedicated package was posted on the CodeMasters GRID forum....welcome to console land, where everything is f*cking sh*te!

Well, Im able to run the game on HIGH settings with good FPS, but the graphics are truly terrible for a 2009 game. So many 2D textures, the grass, bushes and trees looks so pathetic Im lost for words, even Half Life 1 has better graphics than this.

Graphics aside:

:: There is deffo no LEAN
:: There are keybinding issues - for example, if you bind RETURN/ENTER to the USE action and try to re-supply yourself at an ammo crate or dead soldier you will be stuck on the kit screen....with no way out but to restart the level or bind a different key to the USE action.
:: It is deffo not a milsim like ArmA2, it reminds me of the old Novalogic Delta Force series.
:: Dead bodies disappear quite quickly, making a scousers job of robbing the dead after battle all that bit harder!
:: The much touted QUICK COMMAND DIAL is poorly designed, it has several levels to it, however once you go down a level you cannot come back up without closing the COMMAND DIAL and re-opening it. Therefore, if you make the wrong selection during an intense fight...you are fubar'd...you have to go through the whole process again!

I just had a fire fight with 6 tangos who where no more than 30 virtual feet from me and they didnt hit me once - I wiped them out despite have to reload 4 times lol....this was after my fireteam took my "flank right" command to mean "run into that wide open space and get shot to [f*ck] and die"!!!!!

Im going to give it more time to see if I can appreciate the gameplay elements more, but this game is so far from the videos/screens released by CodeMasters that you'd think your playing a different game altogether!

OK, I've had a couple hours on it now and Im starting the like the gameplay element up to the point where I am. Im slowly getting used to the COMMAND DIAL, though the fact you cant navigate back through it makes it a tad annoying.

I know graphics dont make a game, but the graphics still bug the hell out of me, talk about misleading advertisements.

So, despite initial aesthetic dissapointment, the game is growing on me....I'd say its a cross between ghost recon and Delta Force Extreme....but not a milsim like the Arma Series, nor is it COD4 style gameplay (its slower than COD4).

How are you finding it Godz?
