With the Modern Warfare 2 tournament at i38 failing, the Call of Duty community is taking justice in its own hands and has, under the influence of Team Element, started a Call of Duty 4 community tournament run at i38. With Activision disallowing a prize purse for Call of Duty 4, Team Element came up with the idea to gather the funds themselves and run a prize fund for the Call of Duty 4 community tournament. TEK9/Heaven Media will be gathering the entry fees (set at £25 a team) and will be running an unofficial winner-takes-it-all tournament at i38 with TEK9/Heaven Media doing the prize purse.

TEK9 and Cadred will be covering the community tournament, which will most likely be a max 32 teams double elimination system. More information and a list of teams will be put up shortly.
LMAO @ Activision trying to run a gaming tournament featuring clans using their POS anti-clan MP failware that is MW2.

lots of teams couldnt play coz of that rule. apparantly they didnt mention it in time (not until the tournament started) and many teams (even from finland) suffered from that

3 teams so far have fallen foul to the 18+ rule imposed by Activision for the MW2 tournie, in their defence though, many had already booked hotels and paid for plane tickets to get to the event before this last minute age restiction was announced.

Just goes to show that everything Activision touches of late goes to [sh*t]!

the whole lan was a fail (i nearly went oO)
Felt kinda sorry for multiplay, activision contracted them to run codmw2 and said they would provide prize money for it.

2 days before the lan activision dropped the bomb that only people over 18 could play and that multiplay had to inforce it or break the contract

5 MINUTES before the event started the prize purse was still unknown (bare in mind every player has to pay £80 just to join the competition) then half way through the first set of games activison announced that only £1000 prize money would be put into the pot (considering they had made over £10,000 money from ticket sales + even more from the people who signed up for the even initially to play cod4 then only to find out a week before the lan that thre would only be a codmw2 tourney so had to buy the game even though they might not have wanted to buy it)

As a kick in the shin. Epsilon (Finnish team) who had full paid for flights + tickets + accomidation etc to play cod4 at the lan had 3 players who were under 18 so ofc were banned from playing.

The even has been a complete failure, only 16 teams were actually eligible to play the event (Reason (one of the favourites) got knocked out of the group stages because they were unable to connect to their games via IWnet and a lot of people have spent a lot of money for [f*ck] all.

Oh and once the rules were announced (the day before event) everyone found out that instead of the search + destroy that cod competitive gamers have been playing for YEARS. They would have to play CTF instead :S

Element didnt actually have anyone under 18 in their lineup btw, they had 2 people who had no photo id on them.
