the 4800 series is due out in May and from the one (possibly fake) japanese benchmarch, 1 4870 beats a 3870x2 (just)

PS DFI make some very good motherboards, and bios support is never lacking

I cant imagine the 3870 being any bigger than the 2900XT (10 inches!)

Asus P5KC motherboard
Intel Core2Duo E6750 cpu (1333Mhz)
2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 DDR2 (1066Mhz)
Sapphire Radeon HD 2900XT (512mb DDR3) PCI-e
Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi GamerXtreme
250GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 SATA-II Drive
OCZ 600W SilentXtreme PSU
Gigabyte Poseidon PC Case

During the initial build I came across some issues, which where overcome thanks to Sky, Shaggy and Hervig.

Im hoping to have it all finished for the weekend :salute:

Anyhow, here are some piccies (camera is crap so I've had to manipulate brightness in PS CS2.0)

Will post 3DMark06 results over weekend.

I can say the following:

:: The Gigabyte Poseidon case is very nice, and very quiet
:: The Radeon 2900XT is a big b*stard....10inches long!!
:: The Crucial RAM looks cool when powered on (blinking LEDs lol)
:: The System is nice and quiet, despite claims the Radeon fan is noisy

who,s got length

ati 3870 x2 10.5 same as a 8800 GTX or Ultra .undestandable to say its 2 gpus glued to one pcb
ati 3870 is about half an inch shorter than the 2900xt so that,ll be 9 n arf then lol :D

from what i hear everythings about to change yet again on the mobo front and cpu side. what with wolfcrest/yorktown n amd striving to add qaud cores over 2.8 to the market and above,,o the joys of home computing lmao decisions decisions

but i have a feeling intel will put more effort into that miniture mobile cpu chip to nick the new cheap mobile device market share as they hold the top cpu spot ! for now !

hopfully ive been as much help as an ashtray on a motorcycle :D

Its rumoured that Vista is going to follow in the shoes of Windows ME and be replaced by what they should have done in the first place: "Windows 7"
